Homemade Ranch Dressing

Homemade is so much better than store mixes! In fact, the best way to make ranch is to use homemade mayo as well. That gives it an extra zing. You can find a good recipe for that here . (Though, in my experience, olive oil is far too strong tasting to use for mayo. I usually use grapeseed or something equally light.)
Ranch Dressing:
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 clove garlic, diced
  • 1 tablespoon diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1teaspoon pepper
  • Parsley or cilantro, if desired
  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl
  2. Using an immersion blender, blend until smooth.
  3. Taste, and adjust seasoning as required.
    1. This is where personal preference comes in. I generally like a lot of "zing" in my dressing, so I add another clove of garlic.
    2. If the dressing is too runny, add more mayo or sour cream. Remember that it will set some in the fridge. Remember also that the flavors will mellow a bit in the fridge.
  4. Put into a jar and refrigerate. You can enjoy it immediately, but it's generally better if it has at least a couple of hours to sit.
